SUMMARY:IFC and IBC Hazardous Materials Provisions
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:  The IFC® and IBC® Hazardous Materials Provisions seminar addresses requirements for buildings utilizing hazardous materials and requiring coordination between the fire and building codes. It reviews the requirements found in Chapters 50 through 67 of the International Fire Code® (IFC®)\, as well as Chapter 3\, and Sections 414 and 415 of the International Building Code® (IBC®). The goal of this seminar is for participants to examine the application of code requirements in the 2018 IFC and the 2018 IBC to determine compliance for the storage use\, handling and dispensing of hazardous materials. \nThe following publications are recommended to ensure success in the course: \n\nRecommended – 2018 IFC(IFC®) and IBC(IBC®) Hazardous Materials Provisions\nRecommended – 2018 International Building Code® (IBC®)\nRecommended – 2018 International Fire Code® (IFC®)\n\nCourse Objectives: \n\nLocate and describe applicable hazardous materials in the IFC and IBC.\nClassify materials as to their appropriate hazard and determine allowable exempt amounts for each material.\nExplain conditions which exempt a structure from Group H occupancy classifications.\nDefine control areas and identify when control areas can be applied as an alternative to Group H classification.\nDefine the Group M display and Group S storage option for certain hazardous materials as an alternative to a Group H classification.\nDetermine when a building or structure should be classified as Group H occupancy.\nDescribe how each Group H classification impacts corresponding height and area limitations\, mixed uses and means of egress for a building or structure.\n\nNote: ICC CEUs will be provided. 0.6 CEU / 6.0 ICC Contact Hours\nThis is a SoCal FPO-Hosted course; NorCal Members\, contact the office to receive the member discount code. \nCOURSE REGISTRATION

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce a venue change for the August General Membership meeting. We were presented with an opportunity to\nconduct the meeting at the new Frontwave Arena in Oceanside. Frontwave will be home to the San Diego Sockers and G-League Clippers\nand host many future concerts and events (Frontwave Arena). SDCFPOA will be the first group to utilize the facility before opening to\nthe public and welcoming Simone Biles on September 17.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur meeting will be on August 21 at 0900 and in person only. After the meeting\, the Level 10 Construction Team will escort us around the\narena\, including the locker rooms and areas not open to the public.
