This course provides students with a basic knowledge of the human resources requirements related to the roles and responsibilities of a Chief Fire Officer including developing plans for providing employee accommodation, developing hiring procedures, establishing personnel assignments, describing methods of facilitating and encouraging professional development, developing an ongoing education training program, developing promotion procedures, developing proposals for improving employee benefits, and developing a measurable accident and injury prevention program. Taught by Mike Kraus.

Active Membership
Active members shall be entitled to all privileges and benefits provided by the Association, and all elective and appointive officers shall be selected from this group. Those eligible for active membership shall be as follows:
- Any active fire prevention officer or equivalent, either paid or volunteer, of any public, military, tribal or private regularly organized fire department located in San Diego County.

Associate Membership
Any person(s) or organization(s) promoting and supporting the aims, goals and objectives of the San Diego County Fire Prevention Officers’ Association may become Associate Members and shall be entitled to attend all open meetings of the Association and shall have the privilege of the floor subject to the will of the Chair, but shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.
